Dreamweaver
All the clips here should play in older versions of Windows Media Player. No fancy codecs or plugins just a good robust Windows player that all schools have nowadays!
Please contact me if you have problems.

I would really appreciate it if you could "Right click and save target as" on these Videos to keep the site running fast. Every click will use up bandwidth, so saving to your machine means not only have you got the copy (!) but it will probably play quicker!

There are 3 important things to remember when making web pages within Dreamweaver.

Dreamweaver writes HTML code for you - you can see the code by pressing F10 or going to view Code.

To make your links work or see the page working you must Preview in a browser - Press F12 or go to File preview in a browser.

Images must be saved to a folder that contains the web pages. You cannot copy and paste images into Dreamweaver. It's good practice to have a folder called 'images' and save all images into it.

The now famous-ish Goolge hacking website. Download the folder and copy to your machine. Make sure you keep all the images in the image folder.

Flash
Macromedia Flash MX is a fantastix piece of software. Not only can it be used as a doodling tool to create stickmen frame by frame animations but it has a really powerful scripting engine called Actin Script which is very similar to Javascript. It's a great way to introduce pupils to object oriented programming and very very engaging because of it's visual nature. Much better than geeky lines of code that make a square move up 10 lines!

TOP TIPS
You cannot insert a Flash Movie into Dreamweaver - and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You can only insert the Shockwave file.
Confused? Say your making a cake. The ingredients like the sugar, flour and fruit (!) are the layers, symbols and action scripting in Flash. Putting a Flash file in Dreamweaver is like bunging all the ingredients into the oven without any mixing at all...sort of.
What you need to do is mix it - well form the dough and then put itin the oven. In Flash terms this means Publishing the Flash file to create a Shockwave file or a file with an .swf extension.

Anyone who uses Flash to create Motion or Shape tweening and nothing else needs some training. Flash is an awesome games builder, website builder and Ecommerce builder. Using Flash for Shape tweening is a bit like using a Ferrari to pop to the shops for a magazine.

Fireworks

Examples of image resizing and exporting pictures as transparent images and creating animations using frames.
